Application technology of high-power white LED street light illuminating board design

At present, there are three main types of white LED technology : a small amount of yttrium aluminum garnet phosphor is used on the InGaN blue LED die, and the blue LED emits yellow light, which is mixed with blue light to emit white light; using the three primary color principle The red, green and blue LEDs are mixed into white light; the ultraviolet light LED is used to excite the three primary color phosphors to produce multicolor light to be mixed into white light.

The second scheme is difficult to control, and the array application is difficult to ensure uniform white light. The white light emitted by the third white light technology has ultraviolet light components. Therefore, the first white light technology is selected here for application technology analysis. The successful invention of high-power white LEDs provides material and technical support for the entry of semiconductor light-emitting components into the field of illumination. The use of high-power white light-emitting diodes in the field of illumination requires attention to two issues: electrical/optical conversion and thermal control of the illuminating components.

High-power LEDs are small devices. As manufacturing technology increases, the input drive current increases and the input power increases. Although the electric/optical conversion rate is high, it should be regarded as a point source in terms of chip area, so the amount of heat per unit area is large. The performance of high-power LED devices will be greatly affected by the increase of junction temperature. After a certain temperature, the conversion rate of electricity/light will drop sharply, and even the device will lose its function permanently due to excessive temperature.

2.1 Chip-level application technology for improving the electric/optical conversion rate of high-power LED chips and homogenizing the heat flux density of the chip

With the development of technology, the two-dimensional size of the LED chip is continuously increasing. By expanding the area of ​​the LED chip, the output power of the LED is improved, and the brightness of the light is greatly improved. However, if the chip area is increased, there will be an unfavorable phenomenon such as an increase in the light absorption ratio inside the LED and a decrease in the external quantum efficiency, and the temperature rise of the junction temperature will further increase. Moreover, as the two-dimensional size of the chip increases, the luminous efficiency of the chip itself also decreases rapidly.
