TDK launches new EPCOS aluminum electrolytic capacitor

The TDK Group has launched a new EPCOS axial-leaded aluminum electrolytic capacitor tailored for the automotive electronics sector. This innovative component is designed to handle high ripple current loads and offers exceptional vibration resistance. Thanks to its ultra-low ESR and reduced internal thermal resistance, the B41689* series significantly minimizes self-heating, allowing for a 50% increase in ripple current capacity compared to standard axial capacitors. As a result, fewer capacitors are required to meet demanding applications, which not only lowers costs but also enhances system reliability. What makes this series stand out is its compact design—capacitors in the B41689* series can achieve the same ripple current performance as a single-ended capacitor while being 60% smaller in size. This makes them ideal for space-constrained environments commonly found in modern vehicle systems. The capacitors operate within an extensive temperature range of -55°C to +150°C and provide a rated life of 10,000 hours at 125°C. They are available in three voltage ratings: 25V DC, 40V DC, and 63V DC, with capacitance values ranging from 270μF up to 4500μF. The optimized mechanical design ensures stability under extreme conditions, including vibrations up to 40g. This versatile series comes in various configurations, such as solder star or axial-leaded double panel designs, offering flexibility for different installation requirements. These rugged and reliable capacitors are suitable for critical automotive applications like engine management, fuel injection systems, transmission controllers, power steering systems, and components such as fans, wipers, oil pumps, and pump controls.
