The QGT80A high-voltage power supply integrates advanced high-frequency inverter technology, offering robust protection against over-voltage, over-current, and short-circuit conditions. This module is built with imported components and uses epoxy resin vacuum potting, ensuring a compact size, high efficiency, and stable performance. It can operate continuously and frequently, making it ideal for demanding applications.

The modular design clearly marks the two thin wires as 220V input lines and the two thick wires as high-voltage output lines directly on the module body.



2. Basic Parameters

3. Principle

The schematic of the power supply includes rectification filtering, high-frequency oscillation, PWM pulse width modulation, a half-bridge inverter circuit, and a high-frequency step-up transformer T1. The PWM controller IC used is the SG3525A from Silicon Communication, replacing the older SG3524 series. With an internal oscillation frequency calculated as f = 1/(CT × (0.7RT + 3RD)), the outputs at pins 11 and 14 are separated by time. The PWM pulse drives power transistors VT1 and VT2 through T2, creating a square wave of 30–46kHz, which is then stepped up to 10–40kV via the high-frequency transformer T1. Although the protection circuit isn't shown, the selection of components and manufacturing process are crucial for successful operation. The power transistors should have BVDSS ≥ 500V, ID ≥ 6A, and RDS < 1.5Ω, such as IRF840 or BU2331. Capacitor C2 is a high-voltage, high-temperature aluminum electrolytic capacitor rated at 450V, while C3 and C4 are metallized polypropylene capacitors rated at 250V. The transformer T1 uses an R2KB core, with the primary winding using φ0.8mm enameled wire around 60–80 turns, and the secondary using φ0.15mm enameled wire wrapped in 40–60 layers, each with 80 turns. Insulation between layers is achieved with 0.1mm film, and the core is vacuum-potted with E51 epoxy resin at a pressure of 1330Pa and a temperature of 70–80°C.

4. Application

This power supply supports a wide range of output voltages, operating normally from 5 to 40kV. By using a double voltage circuit or serial connection, it can also output up to 60–120kV, making it suitable for various applications. Here are some examples:



1) Ozone Power Supply: The high-frequency, narrow pulse voltage output (20–40kHz) ensures high efficiency and purity. It can drive 2–3 ozone tubes (3500–5000mg) or dozens of small tubes simultaneously. For larger systems, models like QGC-200 (200W) and QGC-1000 (1000W) are available.



2) Ignition Machine: The high-voltage output can break air gaps of 10–20mm, producing arcs of 10–30mm. Ideal for fuel system ignition in oil-fired boilers and diesel engines.



3) Strong Electric Pulse Generator: As shown in the figure, with A and B gaps of 5–10mm, it can generate powerful sparks and loud blasts. Components like a 10kV diode and 2000pF/20kV capacitor are used, with more capacitors increasing spark intensity.

4) Large Negative Ion Source: After rectification, it can be used for large negative ion generation. Diodes or silicon stacks are used for rectification, suitable for shopping malls and theaters.



5) High-Voltage Arc Starter for Welding and Cutting Machines: As shown in the diagram, the arc starter connects to the welder’s secondary cable. Using a φ10mm magnetic bar and 2–5 parallel 2200pF/20kV capacitors, it creates a strong arc for non-contact ignition.

6) Electrostatic Flocking and Spraying Machine: By doubling the voltage or connecting in series, it can reach 60–120kV, meeting the needs of electrostatic flocking and spraying machines at a lower cost than existing products.



7) Electrostatic Dust Removal: Suitable for various types of precipitators. For higher power, models like QGT-200A20 (DC 10–20kV) and QGT-200A40 (DC 30–40kV) are available, directly connected to power supplies without rectification.



8) Enamelled Wire Soldering: A high-voltage arc can instantly melt the joint, eliminating the need for time-consuming scraping processes in mass production.



9) Other Applications: The power supply is also used in electrostatic generators, static eliminators, power grids, and educational demonstrations.
