LG Electronics has reportedly formed a strategic partnership with NXP Semiconductors and Hella Aglaia to create an advanced ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) solution. The collaboration is expected to deliver a fully integrated system by 2020, aiming to support the growing demand for autonomous driving technologies.
According to recent reports, LG Electronics officially announced on January 7, 2018, that it had signed a partnership agreement with both NXP and Hella Aglaia. The goal of this alliance is to develop a comprehensive ADAS platform that will assist automakers in building safer, more intelligent vehicles. This initiative is part of a broader effort to prepare for upcoming global safety standards and testing protocols.
Under the terms of the agreement, the three companies will combine their respective expertise. LG Electronics will contribute its advanced ADAS camera algorithms, image recognition, and control systems. Together, they aim to deliver a seamless and highly efficient ADAS platform.
This new program is set to be available in 2020, and it must meet the rigorous safety requirements outlined by the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) for 2020. These tests are designed to ensure that autonomous vehicles can accurately detect complex traffic scenarios, such as busy intersections, and respond quickly to maintain passenger and pedestrian safety.
