The third quarter microprocessor market: AMD, Intel one after another

According to the latest report announced by the market-adjusting agency IDC today, total global PC microprocessor market shipments and total revenue in the third quarter of 2010 increased by 8.6% and 24.1% respectively year-on-year.

However, compared with the previous quarter, the growth rate was only 2.1% and 2.5%, respectively, which was significantly lower than the average of previous years, 10.6% and 9.0%. This proves that the microprocessor market situation in the past three months is not too good, and IDC also It pointed out that the market demand in July and August was very weak.

According to different areas, the desktop, mobile, and server markets increased by 1.7%, 13.3%, and 24.4% year-on-year, respectively, and increased by 2.4%, 1.6%, and 4.1% compared to the previous quarter. Obviously, the server situation is slightly better.

In terms of vendor market share, Intel currently occupies 80.4%, which is 0.3% lower than the previous quarter and 0.8% year-on-year. AMD is following the trend from 18.7% last year and 19.0% in the previous quarter to 19.2%. VIA also omitted. With gains, it increased to 0.4% and recovered to 2008 levels.

Totaled for the first three quarters, Intel 80.7%, AMD 19.0%, and VIA 0.3%. In general, Intel and AMD have always maintained a good balance. One is always slightly more than 80%, and one is always worthy of 20%.

Intel's share in the desktop and mobile sectors has been lost, currently 71.8%, 85.9%, respectively, down 0.4, 1.0 percentage points year-on-year, but the server area is still invincible, the share has reached as high as 93.7%, setting a new high over the years.

AMD harvested 0.4% and 1.1%, respectively, on desktops and mobiles, and rose to 27.8% and 13.7% respectively. This proves that its mobile platform has received certain recognition, but the server continues to be not optimistic, and its share has only left 6.3%.
