LED display calibration technology is the key to ensure quality

Offering a special solution to enhance its visual quality, the system includes the VisionCAL LED display calibration system, the VisionLINK LED display correction video processor and the VisionMATCH LED display module replacement calibration system.

VisionCAL is Radiant Imaging's LED display calibration system, formerly known as PM-LED C. VisionCAL combines RadiantImaging's ProMetric imaging brightness/colorimeter to perform pixel-level measurements on LED displays and VisionCAL software to generate correction factors. The correction factor adjusts each individual LED in the LED display through the control system of the LED display to achieve the desired brightness and chromaticity consistency.

As for VisionLINK, it is the latest product of Radiant Imaging, which calibrates the video processor online. “Not all LED displays currently support and implement correction factors, especially those of the early LED displays. VisionLINK solves this by applying the VisionCAL generated correction coefficients directly to the DVI video signal and then to the LED display. isionMATCH is also the latest product of Radiant Imaging, which belongs to the LED display module replacement correction system. VisionMATCH provides fast, accurate LED module calibration. When the module is replaced in the LED display field, VisionMATCH can adjust the correction factor of the new module to match the surrounding LED module. Currently VisionMATCH has entered the field test phase.

An LED display calibration system with a CCD seems simple, but it is actually very complicated, and the following points need to be met to complete the calibration requirements.

One is the accurate measurement of color. To do this is difficult for a narrow spectrum source, so a wide spectrum source (wearing CIE tristimulus filter) is required. The second is the need for accurate brightness measurement, which requires a high dynamic range CCD (14bit). "At present, the brightness tester that has been introduced in China can meet the needs of manufacturers, but the color measurement technology is still not very mature."
