China's artificial intelligence industry is experiencing rapid growth, with significant progress being made across various sectors. Companies are showing increased enthusiasm and activity, and several key areas have achieved major breakthroughs. The industry has begun to establish a comprehensive industrial chain, spanning from foundational support and core technologies to upper-level applications. According to estimates, China’s AI technology spending is expected to account for 12% of the global total in 2020.
On the 1st, the "Artificial Intelligence White Paper" was officially released in Beijing. The report predicts that global AI spending will reach 275.8 billion yuan by 2020, with China’s AI technology expenditure reaching 32.5 billion yuan during the same period, making up around 12% of the global total. This highlights the growing influence and investment in AI within the country.

At the "Global Thoughts - Artificial Intelligence and Human Civilization" conference, IDC China President Huo Jinjie presented the white paper. The document emphasizes that information flow represents a new theory, technology, and platform for the next generation of artificial intelligence. It is a product of evolving social needs and demonstrates strong scalability and adaptability. AI-powered information flow has become a crucial way for people to access information in the digital age. As stated in the report, “Information flow will lead the new era of artificial intelligence,†and it is believed that AI and information flow technologies will drive the next wave of industrial digital transformation.
As AI continues to be integrated into mobile internet, the Internet of Things, and autonomous driving, the scale of the AI industry is expanding rapidly. The white paper also highlights the initiatives taken by governments worldwide to promote AI development. Countries such as the United States, Japan, and South Korea have launched numerous strategies and plans in recent years to support AI growth. Similarly, the Chinese government has been actively investing in and supporting AI from multiple angles.
In July this year, the State Council issued the "New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan," aiming to align China’s overall AI technology and application with global standards by 2020. By 2030, the goal is for China to lead globally in AI theory, technology, and application, becoming a top innovation center in the field.
The white paper forecasts that global AI spending will hit 275.8 billion yuan by 2020. With continued government and market support, China is well-positioned to maintain its rapid AI development. The report also recommends that the Chinese government leverage its competitive edge in developing information flow technologies, encourage enterprises to expand internationally, and support AI companies in strengthening their patent portfolios and participating in international standard-setting efforts.
