Toyota CHR new car has entered China, this SUV has a strong cross-border design concept, you do not start?

It’s undeniable that the Chinese market is vast, and car manufacturers are going all out to capture as much of it as possible. Last month, the sales of passenger vehicles were dominated by joint ventures, while SUVs saw a significant contribution from domestic brands. However, the competition is intensifying, as joint venture brands are now aggressively moving into the SUV segment. One of the notable entries is the Toyota C-HR, which has already gained attention overseas as a compact SUV. Known for its bold and futuristic design, the question remains whether it can establish itself as a leader in the competitive domestic market. Recently, Toyota has registered the trademark “Zhuze” with the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce. This trademark is anticipated to serve as the official Chinese name for the domestic version of the C-HR. Production is expected to take place at FAW Toyota. The new Toyota C-HR represents the latest evolution of Toyota’s modular platform, offering a stronger body structure, enhanced suspension, and a lower center of gravity, which improves handling and overall driving dynamics. From its exterior styling to its interior layout, the C-HR showcases a strikingly avant-garde aesthetic, breaking away from traditional Toyota designs. This isn’t just a concept car—it’s a fully realized production model ready to hit the streets. Measuring 4,360 mm in length, 1,795 mm in width, and 1,555 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,640 mm, the C-HR is squarely aimed at the small SUV segment. Its design language reflects the latest trends within the Toyota family, featuring sharp angles, bold lines, and a floating roof that gives it a coupe-like silhouette. The interior is equally innovative, with a non-traditional layout that uses irregular shapes and lines to create a unique space. A large piano-black finish adorns the center console, complemented by an 8-inch touchscreen display and Toyota’s new HMI human-machine interface. Under the hood, the C-HR offers two powertrain options. One is a hybrid system featuring a 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 90 kW. For those who prefer a conventional gasoline engine, there’s a 1.2-liter turbocharged unit producing up to 85 kW of power and 185 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include either a six-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). With its bold styling, cutting-edge technology, and versatile power options, the Toyota C-HR aims to carve out a niche in China’s bustling SUV market. Whether it can truly stand out among the crowded field remains to be seen, but its arrival is sure to generate plenty of buzz.
