ST-Ericsson (ST-Ericsson), launched a highly integrated LTE smartphone platform NovaThor L8580 ModAp, is a LTE multi-mode smartphone platform, it integrates a full set of wireless connection (connecTIvity) function, with speed Up to 2.5GHz eQuad application processor, will provide samples in the first quarter of 2013.
NovaThor L8580 integrates a 2.5GHz eQuad processor based on ARM Cortex-A9, an ImaginaTIon graphics processor PowerVRTM SGX544 running at 600MHz, and an advanced LTE multimode modem in a 28nm FD-SOI process chip. Based on the design of NovaThor L8540, NovaThor L8580 highlights the advantages of FD-SOI technology and combines innovative technology to enhance performance while maintaining low power consumption.
For end users, the advantages of NovaThor L8580 include: CPU operating speed increased by 35%, graphics processor (GPU) and multimedia accelerator operating speed increased by 20%.
