Scottish Braveheart Investment Group announced further investment in mLED, Glasgow, UK. In the latest round of equity financing initiated by Braveheart, mLED has received additional £378,000 in financing from Braveheart's individual customer network, Scottish corporate co-investment fund, mLED board member and technical advisory board members. These financings will be used to expand the recruitment of mLED employees, strengthen the company's intellectual property, and will also develop the company's first customers.
mLED's proprietary micro LED platform technology has been developed at the Institute of Photonics at the University of Strathclyde for more than 10 years, with core technology research costs exceeding £7 million. In June 2010, the Strass Clyde Innovation Fund (SIF) and the Alpha EIS Fund of the Braveheart Investment Group jointly invested in mLED. The Scottish Enterprise Seed Fund assisted in investing a total of 150,000 pounds of seed funds, and mLED was divested from the Institute. .
The miniature LED group is a combination of thousands of dense arrays of high-brightness emitters. Unlike other microdisplay technologies, the miniature LED mode can be programmed and does not require peripheral components such as optics and conversion to adjust the strip to make the LED more compact and efficient.
The programmable micro-pixel LED technology will increase the existing micro-display light intensity by an order of magnitude, and the micro-LED will open a new market for embedded micro-projectors (strip scanners, smart phones, etc.). As a result, a range of high-volume embedded products are under development and have been collaborated with leading system integrators for commercialization.
