Recently, Coolpad has announced a global strategic partnership with Qualcomm in the wearable technology sector. This collaboration aims to develop a range of innovative wearable devices, including children's smartwatches and smart trackers. The partnership focuses on creating tailor-made products that meet specific requirements for power efficiency, connectivity, and location tracking—key features for everyday wearable devices. These include children's smartwatches, smart trackers, and emergency response tools. Let’s dive into what this means for the market.

Coolpad has been repositioning itself as a premium brand with a strong focus on quality and innovation. Leveraging the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 chip platform, Coolpad plans to launch 4G LTE-enabled children's smartwatches in the U.S. in 2018. “The smart wearable market is growing rapidly, and children's smartwatches are becoming a major segment,” said Pankaj Kedia, Senior Director of Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies. “We're excited to collaborate with Coolpad to bring these devices to the global market and accelerate growth in this category. With the Snapdragon Wear platform, Coolpad can deliver low-power, compact, 4G-connected devices with strong location capabilities, providing kids with a safe, connected, and fun experience while giving parents peace of mind.”

The Snapdragon Wear 2100 is a powerful platform featuring an X5 LTE modem, 8th generation positioning technology, and secure MSM technology. These components form the foundation of hardware and software security, ensuring reliability and safety across millions of IoT devices worldwide.

Children's smartwatches first gained popularity in China, where they saw rapid growth in recent years. Coolpad's Dynobot, the first children's watch launched in China, recently won the IDG "Best Child Smart Watch Technology Innovation Award" at CES. The company and Qualcomm have been working together to develop these smartwatches for global markets, including the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

With a strong presence in the global wearable market, Coolpad has built a dedicated team focused on product development, R&D, and marketing. Over the past few years, the company has achieved significant success in the U.S. market thanks to its reliable supply chain and high-quality standards. It has also created a positive market environment through consistent product excellence in various regions around the world.

Kang Yongqing, Executive Vice President of Cooly Group, shared the vision behind the partnership: “Coolpad is expanding its IoT portfolio beyond smartphones and is committed to bringing more advanced technologies to the global market. We base our product innovations on real consumer needs, listen to market demands, and constantly challenge ourselves. Wearables are just the beginning.
