Rookie and Tmall International have officially launched a blockchain-based system to track, upload, and verify logistics information for cross-border imported goods. This initiative covers the entire supply chain, including production, transportation, customs clearance, inspection, and third-party verification. Each product now receives a unique "digital identity card," allowing consumers to easily check and confirm the authenticity of their purchases.
The program is currently active at bonded ports in major Chinese cities such as Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Tianjin, Ningbo, Chongqing, Fuzhou, and Zhengzhou. Over 30,000 products from more than 50 countries are now supported by this blockchain-powered logistics tracking system, offering greater transparency and trust for international shoppers.
Consumers can access detailed logistics information through the "View Product Logistics Traceability Information" button on the Taobao app. This feature allows users to review the full journey of their purchased items, from origin to delivery, ensuring a more secure and reliable shopping experience.
"Blockchain technology has gained a lot of attention recently, but its potential in the cross-border shopping sector is truly promising," said Tang Ren, Head of Technology at Rookie International. "We believe it's a foundational internet technology, not just a tool for speculation. The key advantage of blockchain is that data cannot be altered or falsified. By uploading logistics data from merchants, customs, and other parties, consumers can independently verify their purchases. Attempting to manipulate data on the blockchain would be as difficult as landing on Mars."
