After pushing developers to release updates earlier this year, some iconic Aero7 glass effects from the Windows 7 era started making a comeback in apps like Groove Music and the Calculator app. You might have noticed these subtle touches already—especially if you’ve been keeping an eye on previews.
In September’s upcoming Fall Creators Update, we’re going to see more of those frosted glass effects paired with fresh transitional animations, setting a new standard for how Windows 10 looks and feels. ZDNet recently put together a summary of some of the visual tweaks coming our way, based on the Build 16241 preview released just yesterday.
It seems like the softened layer design will start popping up more frequently after Build 16251, and it’s likely to resemble what we’ll eventually see in the final version of the Fall Creators Update. As for other notable improvements in the fifth official release of Windows 10, there are a few things worth mentioning: Edge browser enhancements (like support for ePubs and PDF directories), better input handling, and refined settings options.
Oh, and don’t miss out on those sleeker visual elements—there are some really cool screenshots floating around too! For example, take a look at this one from the update:

And here's another glimpse of what’s coming:

These small but impactful changes are part of Microsoft’s effort to keep Windows 10 feeling modern and fresh while maintaining the familiarity users love. Let me know what you think about all these updates—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
