STMicroelectronics and Alango Technologies, Inc. announced that they have reached a technology licensing agreement: STMicroelectronics will integrate Alango's cutting-edge software technology into its advanced automotive infotainment, such as Bluetooth chips for hands-free phone accessories. Automotive electronics industry analysts currently predict that as of 2012, about 45% of new cars in the world will be equipped with hands-free phone equipment.
Automotive OEMs are increasingly demanding complete automotive infotainment platforms, and they need a total solution that integrates hardware, Bluetooth software and sound quality enhancement algorithms. By integrating Alango's Voice Communications Suite (VCP) into a state-of-the-art automotive electronics chip, STMicroelectronics will be able to provide a single-chip, dual-function platform for automotive OEMs, helping customers reduce material costs and shrink the outsourced supply chain. The Alango VCP kit includes echo suppression, single and dual microphone noise reduction, automatic gain control and more value-added technology for improved sound quality.
From now on, Alango VCP technology will be integrated into ST's automotive infotainment portfolio, including the STA2500D Bluetooth chip and the company's most advanced Cartesio navigation application processor.
