IDC: iPad's successful sales will not affect netbook market performance

On November 11th, Beijing time, according to foreign media reports, the latest data from IDC showed that the impact of tablet PCs like Apple iPad on netbook sales did not reach expectations. It is still too early to conclude the sale of netbooks, because distance setting is expected to be only one year later. Bob O'Donnell, executive vice president of customer promotion at IDC, mentioned in a forecast and analysis report that the most likely outcome in the future is that the netbook and tablet will be equally divided in terms of sales.

From a functional and price point of view, consumers will likely purchase these devices in a variety of combinations, such as slowing down the purchase of new notebooks, while purchasing a multimedia tablet or netbook as the primary computing device.

Similarly, in the education market, the arrival of tablet computers has little effect on the demand for netbooks, especially in some developing countries. The main task of the government is to recover from the post-recession economy.

Netbook sales will continue to grow, reaching 37.8 million units this year, an increase of 10% from the previous year, and will reach 42.4 million units by 2014. The companies that currently occupy the most market share are Asus, Acer, Hewlett-Packard, Samsung and Dell.

Another analyst company, ABI, also said that netbook sales will continue to grow, but did not comment on the iPad and other tablet computers. It believes that although the iPad's sales are good, it is far from fully capturing the market.
