GE (General Electric) today announced a smart, color-changing LED bulb that supports the Apple HomeKit platform and can be controlled using iOS devices. GE compatible HomeKit LED bulbs also include GE Align technology support, which improves sleep by controlling blue output. During the day, Align technology can also simulate sun-suppressed melatonin production, giving users a more awake feeling; at night, blue light is reduced, promoting melatonin production, and avoiding circadian rhythm sleep.
HomeKit is Apple's home control platform and allows Apple devices to control different smart home products such as light bulbs, garage doors, locks, fans, thermostats, outlets and more. Users can also use the Siri command to control objects such as "turn off the lights", "close the garage door" and so on. Apple TV will become the central device for home automation.
