Design of Intelligent Video Analysis System Based on DM642 Platform

With DM642 as the core, an intelligent video analysis system is designed to support SD video. Modular design, through the intelligent analysis of video, the detection, identification, tracking and early warning functions are realized.

0 Preface

With the rapid development of security monitoring systems, new intelligent video analysis technologies are becoming more and more mature. The intelligent video analysis system is based on image processing technology. In addition to all the functions of the traditional security monitoring system, it also has the functions of detecting, identifying, tracking and early warning of threat targets, Ethernet video transmission, etc., which can realize complex scenes for 24 hours. Continuous monitoring and automatic warning.

The widely used security monitoring system is based on the traditional PC platform, which is high in cost, large in size, complicated in operation, and limited in use. This paper designs and implements a low-cost intelligent video analysis system based on Texas Instruments (TI) DM642. The system analyzes the video stream to detect, identify, track and alert threat targets. The network implements compressed transmission of video. The products can be widely used in the construction of traditional video surveillance projects to improve the intelligence of security monitoring systems.

1 hardware composition

This article uses TI's DM642 processor. The core of the processor is a 600 MHz TMS320C64x DSP core, which can effectively implement complex video processing and analysis algorithms.

The intelligent video analysis system hardware platform provides 1 analog video input, 2 RS 232 and 1 Ethernet port, which can connect external standard CMOS camera and monitoring back end. The hardware of the system adopts a modular design, which consists of an image processing board, a power module, and a video IP module, as shown in Figure 1.

The image processing board is configured to receive the analog video of the camera, analyze and process the video stream, and transmit the processed analog video stream to the IP module of the video server.

The video server IP module receives the analyzed analog video stream, and outputs the encoded compressed video information to the monitoring back end. Receiving the parameter setting and control information of the monitoring backend, and transmitting the parameter setting information to the image processing board, and transmitting the control information to the start and stop of the external field alarm device control device.

2 software architecture and process

The intelligent video analysis system software mainly includes a video processing module, an intelligent analysis module, a decision module, an image compression module, and the like. The system software workflow is shown in Figure 2. The interfaces of all algorithms are in accordance with TI's xDAIS standard.

The video processing module includes data acquisition, data processing, and pre-processing, as shown in Figure 3. The analog video signal of the CMOS camera is captured by the A/D chip of the image processing board, and the standard YUV digitized video stream is encoded and output, and the image processing board performs video preprocessing on the YUV digitized video stream.

The algorithm of the video preprocessing module includes data processing and preprocessing. Data processing is used to adjust, compress, and store the collected video stream for transmission of the video stream over Ethernet. Preprocessing mainly includes camera calibration, as well as image filtering, enhancement and recovery.

The original code stream captured by the A/D chip on the image processing board is not high due to illumination, noise, jitter, lens distortion, etc., so it needs to be preprocessed to extract the required information. Camera lens parameters need to be calibrated before using the camera device, including obtaining external and internal parameters of the camera lens.

The external parameters refer to the position and direction of the camera lens relative to the geodetic coordinate system; the internal parameters are the optical characteristic parameters of the camera lens, including the focal length value of the lens, the radial lens distortion value, the axial lens distortion value, and other systematic error parameters. value.

The intelligent analysis module mainly detects and measures the target information of interest in the preprocessed image, and obtains objective information of these targets. The intelligent analysis module includes algorithms such as target segmentation, target location, target tracking, and feature extraction, as shown in Figure 4.

The intelligent decision-making module is the result of using the intelligent analysis module. By studying the properties of multiple objects in the image and the relationship between them, the understanding of the meaning of the image content is obtained, including the interpretation of the continuous scene, so as to realize the identification of the threat target. , tracking and early warning. The intelligent decision module includes algorithms for target recognition, behavior understanding, threat estimation and decision reasoning, as shown in Figure 5.

3 Conclusion

This design implements the intelligent video analysis system on the DM642 platform. Through the optimization algorithm, it can meet the requirements of 24 h uninterrupted and high-efficiency monitoring of complex scenes, and has the advantage of low false alarm rate, realizing low-cost SD intelligent video analysis. The application prospect is broad.
