By 2020, China will launch more than 30 BeiDou navigation satellites, complete the construction goal of covering the whole world, and have global service capabilities. This is the statement made by Zhang Rongjiu, chairman of the China Satellite Navigation and Positioning Association, who recently attended the expert review meeting on the construction plan of the Beidou satellite navigation and positioning ground enhancement system in Tianjin.
Zhang Rongjiu said that the Beidou satellite navigation system is a global satellite navigation system independently built, independently operated, and compatible with other satellite navigation systems in the world. At present, China has 14 Beidou navigation satellites operating in the sky, covering the Asia-Pacific region.
Because Beidou Navigation can provide better navigation location services than meter-level and centimeter-level precision positioning services, Beidou can also provide services such as finding hotels, finding food, and locating locations. Zhang Rongjiu said that although China's Beidou satellite navigation system provides civilian use, it has a late start, but it has a latecomer advantage. Many fishing boats in China are equipped with Beidou terminals. When they go to sea, they can know the precise position of their fishing boats. When they encounter an emergency, they can send short messages to Beidou Satellite. The short messages are received by the fishery administration. Rescue measures can be taken later.
Zhang Rongjiu said that breakthroughs have been made in the construction of the Beidou satellite navigation system and that it is currently steadily advancing the construction of a global system. In the future, it will focus on promoting the Beidou satellite navigation function as the standard configuration of car navigation and smart phone terminals, and promote its diversified applications in social services, travel, caring for difficult groups, and smart cities.
