However, in the face of the rise of the mobile Internet in the past two years, Acer Wang, led by Wang Zhentang, was considered to be ineffective and failed to open the field of mobile devices such as smart phones and tablet computers in a timely manner. Yesterday, Wang Zhentang admits: “Acer has encountered a series of serious and complicated challenges in the past few years. In the first two quarters of this year, Acer suffered a loss of $17.4 million and $236 million, respectively, and a loss of $446 million in the third quarter, setting a record loss for the quarter.

At the same time, Acer also announced that it will cut spending, lay off 7% of the world's staff, and lay off employees at a cost of US$140 million. As a result, the company will continue to lose money in the fourth quarter of this year.

Acer used to spend USD 710 million to acquire the well-known PC brand Gateway of the United States and took the position of the third largest PC manufacturer in the world.
